Introduction

What happens when a much older man is married to a young girl? In his quiet, intimate film, Reis Çelik succeeds in telling the tragic story of an unusual wedding night in a remote part of Turkey.

Synopsis

The groom is about 60 years old and has spent years in prison. The bride whose face is hidden by a red veil is waiting for him with her inner fears. They are alone in the room now. Under the veil, the groom finds a 14-year-old girl. The groom faces the obligation to consummate the marriage under the pressure of the thousands of years old male-dominated traditions. The bride is trying to escape her fears with her subtle wit and is struggling to jerk the groom around. The night they spend, acting like a chess game, is going to end. What will the morning be like for the two who entered the nuptial chamber with a wedding?
