Japanese mind will be closely scrutinised in Nihombashi. October 23-25, 2012 / Nihonbashi Mitsui Hall (COREDO Muromachi 4・5・6F)

Introduction

This controversial film exposes the confidential MIS (Military Intelligence Service), based on testimony from second-generation Japanese Americans who were to fight against their parents’ homeland, Japan.
Military Intelligence Service (MIS) was an intelligence service in the U.S. mainly composed of second-generation Japanese Americans, a confidential state secret. This landmark collection of testimony reveals the previously hidden history of the MIS soldiers. Despite holding U.S. nationality, they had to overcome racial discrimination and accept their fate to fight against their parents' home country, Japan. The conclusion of Junichi Suzuki's powerful three-part documentary about Japanese-American history!

Director
Junichi Suzuki

Born 1952 in Chigasaki. Studied ethics at the University of Tokyo. He joined Nikkatsu Corp. as an assistant director, where he studied under 22 directors. The head of studio asked him if he wanted to direct a film, which apparently everyone turned down the opportunity to direct. Since then he has directed over 20 films for more than 30 years. He came back to Japan in June this year after 11-year life in the U.S. His further success is eagerly awaited.
