Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) is honored to announce that Kaneto Shindo’s “Post Card” will be screened at a special pre-festival memorial event on September 29. Kaneto Shindo passed away on May 29 this year. He was 100 years old.
“Post Card” was screened for the 23rd TIFF Competition section and won the Special Jury Prize. Shindo himself said at the official press conference that “this is the last work of my life.” Kaneto Shindo directed 49 films and wrote over 200 scripts in his career and had deep ties with TIFF since 1989, when his film “Sakura-tai Chiru” was selected for the 3rd TIFF’s NIPPON CINEMA NOW section.

After this Memorial Screening, a talk will be held with Jiro Shindo, his son and the producer of “Post Card.” The talk will look back on Kaneto Shindo’s films and lifelong passion for films.
